The Course and Clubhouse

Established in 1896, our historic 18-hole chalk downland course provides a challenging and enjoyable game for golfers of all levels, with stunning panoramic country views, meticulously maintained greens, and a layout that integrates natural undulations and hazards. The course has excellent drainage, ensuring optimal playing conditions even after heavy rain, enabling us to keep the course open and playable for visitors and members year-round.

Our clubhouse provides an inviting environment where you can relax after a round of golf. Enjoy a meal or a drink at the bar or on the terrace overlooking the course and breathtaking rural landscapes. We offer a varied menu full of delicious local dishes, perfect for refuelling after a day on the greens. Our pro shop is well-stocked with all the essential gear and our friendly staff are always on hand to offer advice and assistance, making sure you have everything you need for a great game.

West Dorset Summer Events

·       Chesil Rocks, Weymouth – 20th-22nd June: annual music and arts festival with all proceeds going to the Samaritans

·       Weymouth Food and Family Festival – 27th-28th July: with a live music stage, companion dog shows, cooking demonstrations, a chilli eating competition, circus skills workshop, dance performances and fun fair, there’s plenty to keep the whole family entertained

·       Lyme Regis Regatta and Carnival – 2nd-10th August: a colourful carnival parade, live music, food stalls with international delicacies and a spectacular fireworks show

·       Great Dorset Chilli Festival, Sturminster Newton – 3rd-4th August: for those who love spicy food and flavours, this event features a wide variety of chilli-based foods, cooking demonstrations and live music

·       Dorchester Cider Festival – 17th August: try a selection of locally produced ciders, enjoy live music and sample food from a range of stalls

·       Melplash Show, Bridport – 22nd August: an annual agricultural event with farming displays and food and craft stalls selling local produce

·       Anonymous Festival, Dorchester – 26th August: experience live music from a mix of genres, art exhibitions showcasing diverse perspectives and engaging workshops

A standout event in the summer calendar is the Dorset Sunflower Trail at Maiden Castle Farm in Dorchester. Wander through fields of towering sunflowers, perfect for a leisurely stroll or capturing some stunning photos. The trail is ideal for families and photographers alike, providing a picturesque backdrop for a relaxing day out in nature.

Dorchester

Dorchester, the county town of Dorset, is steeped in history and culture. Hardy's Cottage, the birthplace of famous author Thomas Hardy, is a charming, thatched cottage located in Puddletown Forest. This quaint property offers a glimpse into the early life of the writer and is surrounded by scenic gardens and trails perfect for a leisurely walk. Puddletown Forest is a lovely day out for walking, cycling, picnicking and wildlife spotting with the family.

The Roman Town House is another fascinating attraction in Dorchester. This well-preserved Roman villa provides a glimpse into life during the Roman occupation of Britain. The site includes intricate mosaics and informative displays that bring history to life.

Weymouth

Also in Dorchester, The Keep Military Museum is another must-visit, offering a fascinating look at the military history of the region.
