Golf Course Etiquette Tips

Golf etiquette is essential to ensure everyone enjoys their time on the course. Here are some key tips to keep in mind:

1. Pace of Play: maintaining a steady pace of play is crucial. Keep up with the group ahead and be mindful of the groups behind you. If you fall behind, be courteous and allow faster groups to play through. This helps to keep the game enjoyable for everyone.

2. Repairing Divots: always repair your divots on the fairways and ball marks on the greens. Use the divot repair tool to fix the mark and ensure the green remains smooth for other players. This simple act of consideration helps keep the course in excellent condition for all golfers.

3. Respect Fellow Golfers: show respect to your fellow golfers by maintaining silence and remaining still when others are playing their shots. Stand at a safe distance from the person hitting the ball and avoid making sudden movements or loud noises. If your ball is heading toward another player, yell "Fore" as a warning. Courtesy and respect go a long way in creating a pleasant atmosphere on the course.

4. Bunker Etiquette: after playing a shot from a bunker, rake the sand to smooth out any footprints or marks left by your shot. Leaving the bunker in good condition for the next player is a sign of good etiquette and respect for others.

5. Attire: on the course, practice ground and putting green, only recognised golf wear and golf shoes are acceptable. Golf shoes aren’t allowed inside the lounge area. We don’t allow sports headgear, shell suits or tracksuits, sports shorts, soccer shirts or shirts with logos. Take a look at our visitor page for more info on dress requirements.

Learn To Play or Improve Your Skills

The Came Down Academy is a stepping stone for players to make a smooth transition from beginners into established golfers and hopefully full club members. For those looking to improve their game, our PGA professional instructors, Nick and Sean, provide personalised lessons tailored to your skill level. They make learning to play fun and allow players to develop at their own speeds. Whether you're a beginner just starting out or an experienced golfer looking to refine specific aspects of your game, consider an Academy membership. Our lessons cover all areas of the game, from driving and iron play to putting and course management. Don’t worry if you don’t have equipment, we can lend you the essentials.

A few benefits of Academy membership are:
• 10 golf lessons per annum with one of our PGA Professionals
• 24 x 10 hole rounds of golf per annum (these can’t be played before 1.00 pm)
• Extra rounds may be purchased at the member's guest rate
• Full use of the club’s extensive practice facilities
• Full use of the clubhouse facilities
• A discount card for the bar/catering (currently 5%)
• Fortnightly roll-up competitions organised by the Professional, a great way to meet fellow Academy members

At Came Down Golf Club, every member is a valued part of our community. Join us and experience the joy of golf in a welcoming and supportive environment.

If you have any questions about our membership options, our team is always happy to help. We're excited to welcome you to Came Down and look forward to seeing you on the course!
