Glastonburleigh: A Night of Music, Community, and Fundraising for Mosaic

Glastonburleigh, this year’s music extravaganza at Came Down Golf Club, exceeded all expectations by raising an astounding £3,000 for Mosaic

The Came Down Band delivered an unforgettable performance that had everyone dancing and singing along. Their eclectic mix of tunes, ranging from classic hits to modern favourites, created an electric atmosphere.

Despite the unexpected chilly temperatures that set in as the sun set, the warmth of our Came Down community prevailed. 245 members, friends and family members thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

About Mosaic

Mosaic, our Club Captain's Charity of the Year, is an exceptional charity that supports children and young people with bereavement throughout Dorset.

Founded in 2007, Mosaic was created to fill the gap in bereavement provision across the county. Before Mosaic's inception, support for bereaved children and young people was limited, primarily offered by hospices focusing on those who had lost someone to a long-term illness. Mosaic stepped in to support children and young people bereaved by all causes of death.

In 2023, Mosaic saw a record number of over 400 young people seeking their support. With the collaborative efforts of staff, volunteers, and trustees, they successfully raised funds to sustain their comprehensive web of care and advice. The demand for Mosaic's services continues to grow, with a significant rise in referrals for bereavement counselling.

Mosaic's services extend beyond bereavement counselling. They provide training for professionals and host activity days, social events, and residential weekends for the young people they support. These events offer a vital sense of community and a safe space for children to process their grief and connect with others facing similar experiences.

The Impact of our Fundraising

The fundraising barometer board in the clubhouse outlines how your incredible donations will make a difference. The funds raised at Glastonburleigh will support Mosaic in their mission to provide essential services to bereaved children and young people, ensuring they receive the care and support they need during their most challenging times.

James Burleigh, our Club Captain Sends Words of Thanks

“Firstly, to the Came Down Band who gave up their time for the second year in a row and who played for over 3 ½ hours. A special mention to George Stevenson for organising the group’s rehearsals and Sharon Gibson, our Ladies’ Captain, who along with golfing duties managed to fit in all the music practice in as well.  To our very own President, Brian “May” Hansford, Mike Denham and Mike Ashley, all of whom have now performed and given up their time at both Raj Aid in 2023 and now Glastonburleigh this year.”

“Secondly, to the whole Came Down Team who worked so hard to put this event on. To Simon, the bar and kitchen team, to chef Kevin for the delicious food and also a special mention to the Greenkeeping team.”

“Thanks to Pete Weller, another of our club members who provided the canopy for the band.”

“To the willing organising committee of Martin Aylett, Martin Tapley, Dave Constant (my Vice-Captain) and Neil Foster. These sort of events take a fair amount of planning, all of which has been undertaken with huge commitment.”

“And last but by no means least, to all of you who attended and for supporting this event and buying the tickets that will be of such great value to Mosaic, the charity I have adopted this year. The link to the photos below I think have captured the evening’s mood perfectly.”

Keep your eyes peeled for news of future fundraising events happening at Came Down Golf Club

Thank you again to everyone who helped to make the evening so special.
