Supporting Bereaved Children Through our Captain's Charity of the Year, Mosaic

Came Down Golf Club are delighted to announce our partnership with Mosaic, an exceptional charity that supports children and young people with bereavement throughout Dorset.

Jo Revill, CEO of Mosaic, shares how Mosaic supports children and young people through bereavement and extends heartfelt gratitude to Came Down Golf Club for choosing Mosaic as their Captain's charity of the year.

Founded in 2007, Mosaic was created to fill the gap in bereavement provision across the county. Before this, support for bereaved children and young people was limited as the only support available was from hospices offering support after the death of someone suffering from a long-term illness.

Mosaic supports children and young people who have been bereaved of someone special, such as a parent, sibling, friend or a member of their extended family. This includes all causes of death, such as long-term illness, sudden death, suicide, murder or road traffic accidents.

During 2023, Mosaic saw more young people than ever, over 400, and with the staff, volunteers, and trustees working closely together, they were able to raise funds to support and sustain the web of care and advice that we offer to many families at a point in their lives when they need it.

2024 is expected to be equally demanding. The team are seeing a steep rise in the number of children who are referred for bereavement counselling, and this need stretches right across the county.

As well as offering bereavement counselling and training for professionals, Mosiac hold activity days, social events and residential weekends for the young people they support.
