Our traditional downland layout, set in the heart of the Dorset countryside, provides a wonderful golfing experience throughout the year and affords visitors magnificent panoramic views . Whether it's to join as a member, book a society, or simply to visit with friends, we can assure you of a warm Dorset welcome.

Rich History
Founded in 1896 on the hills between the Dorset towns of Dorchester and Weymouth, Came Down Golf Club has very strong historical links to some of golf’s most important institutions and history, including The R&A, The Ryder Cup, The Open, The Walker Cup, three of the greatest golf course architects in Harry Colt, J H Taylor and Tom Dunn, and even the origin of ‘The Bogey’!
A Course
with Pedigree
Two of the world’s greatest course designers, J H Taylor and Harry S Colt, brought their magic to the course, bringing it into the same stables as Royal Portrush, Royal Birkdale, Muirfield and Sunningdale. Taylor set up the initial 18 holes, then Colt introduced changes in 1926 using the natural features of the land. Their insights have made a course that takes many rounds to truly understand.
