Hardy A Report v Lyme Regis GC

Came Down recorded their first away win in Hardy A in over 4 years after a fantastic 5 ½ -2 ½ win against Lyme Regis. This was even more impressive as the front 6 players were all giving away between two and four shots.

The weather was glorious and warm with a touch of breeze to make us feel at home. The course was in fantastic condition after much winter work replacing all their bunkers and drainage work on several greens. The greens were firm and fast and rolled perfectly.

Cup hero Mark Stickley led the team off and recorded 4 birdies on the back 9 to secure a well earned half to get Came on the board. In-form players Gareth Hughes, Mike Spearing, Alan Stickley and Geraint Hughes came in with 7&6, 5&3, 4&3 and 1up wins respectively. All men retain their 100% records this season so far.

Ryan Ford and Raj Lehal were this week’s casualties, but both fought valiantly against two in-form Lyme players. Steve Wells recorded the final win of the day with a brilliant 2&1 win.

This win puts Came Down on course for promotion as away wins in Hardy A are collector’s items.

The team’s next game is Round 2 of the Cup against Crane Valley at home on Saturday 26th May at 1pm. We wish them the best of luck to continue their winning streak and please come down to support the team.
